281 Conference girls' opening round moved to Monday

Due to the threat of winter weather Friday afternoon and evening, the opening round of the girls’ 281 Conference tournament will begin Monday instead of Friday.

The schedule has been changed slightly from what was originally planned. The tournament will still kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the Wolsey-Wessington gymnasium, top-seeded Wolsey-Wessington taking on No. 8 Sunshine Bible Academy, followed at 5 p.m. by a match between fourth-seeded James Valley Christian and No. 5 Hitchcock-Tulare. No. 2 Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will tangle with seven seed Iroquois/Doland at 6:30 p.m. and the nightcap will see No. 3 Highmore-Harrold facing No. 6 Wessington Springs at 8 p.m.

The consolation semifinals will be played at the JVC gym on Jan. 18 at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., with the semifinals being held in Wolsey at 3:30 and 6 p.m.

The finals will be held on Jan. 20 at Huron Arena.

The seventh-place game is slated for 9 a.m., followed by the consolation title game at noon; the third-place game at 3 p.m.; and the championship game at 6 p.m.
