A dedication of thanks

Family and friends of late Huron Mayor Paul Flanagan gathered Saturday in Central Park to dedicate a park bench in his memory.  Flanagan devoted considerably to the Huron community, serving on the city commission from 1973- 1979, when he became acting mayor.  He served in that capacity until April the following spring, when he was elected mayor and served in that role for 10 years. In all, Paul Flanagan devoted 17 years to city government and was involved in many organizations. Mayor Paul Aylward (right side standing) thanked Flanagan’s family for the many years of service he and his family gave to the city.  Shown left to right are family members  Jeanne Flanagan Wheeler, Sioux Falls, Lisa Flanagan Hoyt, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Laura Flanagan, Huron and Dan Flanagan, Berthoud, Colorado. Daughters Valerie Flanagan McGibbon, Orlando, and Kathleen Flanagan Rossman, Spring Park, Minn., were unable to attend. Huron  City Commissioner Doug Kludt is also pictured standing with Mayor Aylward.
