WOLSEY — Alan Kahre, 75, of Wolsey, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey with military honors by Wolsey American Legion. Visitation with his family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m. or one hour prior to the service at the church.
Alan Dean Kahre was born October 29, 1943, to parents Herbert and Elaine (Christopherson) Kahre in rural Wolsey. He attended school in Wolsey, graduating from Wolsey High School in 1961. Alan joined the United States Army serving honorably from 1964 to 1967. He was stationed in France, Germany, Okinawa, and Vietnam.
Alan married Laraine Fuller November 15, 1969, in Clark. They made their home in Wolsey. Alan was an over the road truck driver.
 Alan enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins baseball and rarely missed a game, walleye fishing with his son and friend, Gary Seeman, and pheasant hunting. Getting coffee with his friends was a favorite hobby and solving all the world’s problems in one afternoon. Alan was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Laraine of Wolsey; children, Scott Kahre of Mitchell, and Sara (Matthew) Carr of Tea; two grandchildren, Kaden and Abigail Carr of Tea; his brother, Dan Kahre of Wolsey; brothers-in-law, Lyle Babcock of Wolsey, Bill (Jody) Fuller, Lee (Dorothy) Fuller, Dick Fuller, Terry (Jeannie) Fuller, and Wayne Fuller all of Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janice Babcock; three sisters-in-law, Paulette Kahre, Carol Fuller, and Linda Fuller.
