HOWARD — Alice Magdalena Kaufmann, 94, of Howard, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, at Whispering Winds Assisted Living in Howard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., today at St. Agatha Catholic Church of Howard, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Howard.
Alice Magdalena Neises was born October 7, 1924, southeast of Howard to William and Mary (Leider) Neises. She graduated from Burbank High School in 1942.
She was united in marriage to Gilbert Kaufmann February 9, 1950. The couple farmed in the Canova and Howard area for 52 years. She enjoyed working in her garden, canning, playing cards, attending daily Mass and participating in church activities, embroidery and reading.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Peters of Stickney, Mary (Charlie) Beatch of Sioux Falls, Dan (Beckie) of Sioux Falls, Alan (Cindy) of Howard, Gary (Lynne) of Arlington; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, siblings, Dolores Rasmussen, and Leon Neises.; sisters-in-law, Elaine Neises, Bonnie Burmeister, Vivian Kaufman; brother-in- law, Perry Genzlinger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; an infant son; siblings, John, Jerry, Margie Genzlinger, and Phyllis Paradies; and son-in-law, Mark Peters.
