All-281 Conference boys’ and girls’ basketball teams announced

WOLSEY — Three seniors and a pair of juniors were named to the first team of the All-281 Conference boys’ basketball team, which was announced Tuesday.
Seniors Trey Weber of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, Ryan Wager of James Valley Christian and Zach Binger of Hitchcock-Tulare were named to the first team, along with juniors Jharrett Bloomenrader of Highmore-Harrold and Lynden Williams of Wolsey-Wessington.
Selected to the second team were junior Treymaine Eagle Thunder-Alger of Highmore-Harrold, senior John Witte of Wessington Springs; senior Trent Kingsbury and sophomore Moah Dickson of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket; and senior Michael Waldner of James Valley Christian.
Third team honors went to sophomore Jade Burma of Sunshine Bible Academy; junior Ty Hofer of Hitchcock-Tulare; sophomore Brevan Hooks and senior Carter Mehling of Wolsey-Wessington; and sophomore Dylan McDonnell of Highmore-Harrold.
Earning honorable mention were seniors Jacob Bich and Caleb Waldner of Iroquois; junior Josh Wieting of James Valley Christian; senior Tyler Babcock of Wolsey-Wessington; and junior Darrian Hood of James Valley Christian.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket and Highmore-Harrold both finished 6-1 against 281 Conference foes this season, while Hitchcock-Tulare and Wolsey-Wessington were both 5-2. James Valley Christian finished at 3-4, followed by Wessington Springs at 2-5, Iroquois at 1-6 and Sunshine Bible Academy at 0-7.

Girls
Just two seniors were named to the first team of the All-281 Conference girls’ basketball team, which was also announced Tuesday.
Rebecca Buchhola of Highmore-Harrold and Susan Wilken of Sunshine Bible Academy were the seniors named to the first team. They were joined on the first team by junior Megan Poyer of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket and sophomores Lindsey Wilken of Sunshine Bible Academy and Elizabeth Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare.
Selected to the second team were  senior Abby Doering of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, senior Brianna Beckler of Highmore-Harrold; senior Ally Binger of Hitchcock-Tulare; freshman Grace Gran of Wessington Springs; and senior Tyler Schone of Hitchcock-Tulare.
The third team consisted of sophomore Cortney Sprecher and junior Raquel Nelson of Wolsey-Wessington; junior Tesa Jensen of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket; freshman Dannyn Peterson of Hitchcock-Tulare; and senior Avery Shumaker of James Valley Christian.
Earning honorable mention were senior Halle Kroeplin and junior Madison Bollweg of Highmore-Harrold; senior Taylor Sprecher of Wolsey-Wessington; junior Rebekah Williams of James Valley Christian; and senior Tristan Ziebart of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket was undefeated in 281 Conference play with a record of 7-0. Hitchcock-Tulare and Highmore-Harrold were both 5-2, while Wolsey-Wessington was 4-3. Sunshine Bible Academy and Wessington Springs both were 3-4, followed by James Valley Christian at 1-6 and Iroquois at 0-7.
