All-Stars cruise past Aberdeen

HURON — Xavier Erickson recorded a hat trick in the opening period to propel the Huron All-Stars to a 7-3 victory against the Aberdeen Cougars on Friday at Bergman Arena.
Erickson opened the scoring with the first of five goals for the All-Stars in the first period on an unassited shot just 24 seconds into the game.
Walker Schiltz used an unassisted goal midway through the opening period during a power play to boost Huron’s lead to 2-0.
Erickson put the puck in the net for his second goal 12 minutes into the game to give the All-Stars a 3-0 advantage. Carson Duba and Thacher Dramstad assisted on the play.
Aberdeen was able to narrow its deficit back to just a goal in quick fashion. Dean Desmond  and Jared Everson scored on  unassisted shots just over a minute apart to slice Huron’s advantage to 3-2.

However, just 11 seconds later the All-Stars were able to rebuild their advantage with an unassisted goal by Schiltz.
Erickson would earn his hat trick with under a minute to play in the first period, scoring on a pass from Schiltz, to give Huron a 5-2 lead heading into the second period.
An unassisted goal by Spencer Busch increased the lead to 6-2 for the All-Stars 11 minutes into the final period.
Matt Johnson had the second goal of the game for Aberdeen, with Desmond assisting.
Huron responded with the final goal of the game just 24 seconds later as Schiltz earned a hat trick. Busch and Erickson were credited with the assist.
Jacob Wehde stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced to earn the win in the net for the All-Stars.
Landon Danielson tallied 35 saves as the goalie for the Cougars.
Huron returns to action action Friday with a 7:30 p.m. home game gaisnt Mitchell.
