HURON — Xavier Erickson recorded a hat trick in the opening period to propel the Huron All-Stars to a 7-3 victory against the Aberdeen Cougars on Friday at Bergman Arena.
Erickson opened the scoring with the first of five goals for the All-Stars in the first period on an unassited shot just 24 seconds into the game.
Walker Schiltz used an unassisted goal midway through the opening period during a power play to boost Huron’s lead to 2-0.
Erickson put the puck in the net for his second goal 12 minutes into the game to give the All-Stars a 3-0 advantage. Carson Duba and Thacher Dramstad assisted on the play.
Aberdeen was able to narrow its deficit back to just a goal in quick fashion. Dean Desmond and Jared Everson scored on unassisted shots just over a minute apart to slice Huron’s advantage to 3-2.
