All-Stars record back-to-back victories

HURON — Huron All-Stars earned their second win in a row with a 9-3 victory against the Yankton Bucks on Sunday at Bergman Arena.
The All-Stars needed just over a minute to put the opening goal on the board in the first period, as Carson Duba scored on a pass from Cody Ruedebusch.
Both teams then went scoreless for the next eight minutes before Yankton evened the score with a goal by Austin Wagner, with the assist going to Eli Kapla.
Huron needed less than a minute to regain its advantage. Xavier Erickson found the net with Spencer Busch and Andrew Arteman combining for the assist.
The All-Stars’ lead was erased just over a minute later as Luke Schulz put the puck in the net for the Bucks on a pass from Thomas Wiener.
Using a pair of goals less than a minute apart, Huron would carry a 4-2 lead into the second period. Izaiah Phillips scored with assists going to Erickson and Busch, and Erickson netted his second goal on a pass from Thacher Dramstad.
The All-Stars added to their advantage with two goals in the second period. Duba scored his second goal on a pass from Lucas Snyder and Busch scored on a pass from Phillips.
Huron’s offensive attack continued into the third period with a pair of goals in the first 44 seconds to cap a 6-0 run.
Matthew Voss scored on an unassisted shot just 31 seconds into the final period and Ruedebusch followed with a goal just 13 seconds later on a pass from Snyder to give the All-Stars an 8-2 lead.
Less than a minute later Yankton put its final goal on the board with an unassisted shot by Wiener.
Phillips capped the scoring with his second goal of the game for Huron, with an assist going to Busch.
The All-Stars finished with 55 shots on goal, with Yankton goalie Ryan Eichacker stopping 46 of them.
Jake Wehde earned the win in the net for Huron with 15 saves.
On Saturday, the All-Stars needed overtime to get past the Aberdeen Cougars 6-5 at Bergman Arena.
After scoring the final goal in regulation on a pass from Phillips to force overtime, Erickson ended the game just over three minutes into the extra period. Phillips and Busch had assists on the game-winner.
Huron held a 3-1 lead after the opening period.
Busch had the first goal on an unassisted shot. Phillips had the second on a pass from Erickson.
Caleb Kranzler had the lone goal for Aberdeen in the opening period on a pass from Charles Olson.
Each team had a goal in the second period.

Trey Wagemann pulled the Cougars to within a goal, with Ben Casanova and Olson being credited with assists.
Duba answered with a goal for the All-Stars to give them a 4-2 lead heading into the final period. Ruedebusch and Snyder assisted on the play.
Aberdeen then used back-to-back goals by Rylan Abel to even the score at 4-4 just shy of three minutes into the third period. The first was assisted by Avery Dean, while the second was unassisted.
The Cougars then took their first lead of the game with a goal by Braydon Jones just over five minutes into the final period. Casanova and Kranzler assisted on the play.
Erickson would tie things up at 5-5 with under two minutes to play in regulation and then had the game-winner in overtime.
Wehde had 34 saves to secure the first league win of the season for the All-Stars. Matthew Feiock stopped 23 shots for the Cougars.

JV boys
Huron and Aberdeen skated to a 4-4 tie in the junior varsity boys’ game on Saturday.
The All-Stars scored the first three goals of the game, all coming off the stick of Rei Hoops. The first and third goals were assisted by Jayden Bogh, while the second was unassisted.
Aberdeen responded with four unanswered goals, including two in the second period, to take a 4-3 advantage.
Hoops would find the net a fourth time in the third period to pull Huron even. Bogh and James Tharp assisted on the play.
Marty Boetel inked 34 saves for the All-Stars, while Dylan Ortmeier had 39 saves for Aberdeen.

Bantams
The Huron Bantams recorded a 5-1 win against the Yankton Miracle on Sunday.
Kaleb Ferguson had the first two goals for the All-Stars. The first was the lone goal of the opening period on a pass from Miles Bawdon. The second was unassisted in the second period.
After Yankton cut into its deficit with its lone goal in the second period, Huron used goals by Haiden McCloud and William Burns to stake a 4-1 lead heading into the final period. Burns and Bawdon assisted on McCloud’s goal, while Ferguson assisted on Burns’ goal.
Shaun Ready capped the scoring for the All-Stars with an unassited goal in the third period.
Cooper Letcher stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced to earn the win for Huron. Keenan Wagner had 28 saves for Yankton.
On Saturday, Aberdeen got past Huron 5-2.
Both goals for the All-Stars came in the second period. McCloud scored on a power play, with Ferguson getting the assist. Ferguson then scoed on a pass from Ready.
Letcher faced 53 shots in the net for Huron and stopped 48 of them. Samuel Casper had 20 saves for Aberdeen.

U14 girls
The Huron U14 girls’ team outshot Sioux Falls 30-10 en route to a 6-2 victory on Sunday.
After taking a 3-2 lead in the opening period, the Lady All-Stars put up three unanswered goals in the final two periods.
Devin Hunter opened the scoring for Huron, finding the net on a pass from Azalea Rashaad.
After a Sioux Falls goal evened the score, the Lady All-Stars used an unassisted goal by Kylee Small to regain the lead.
The Lady Flyers needed just 12 seconds to even the score again, but Hunter scored her second goal of the game on an unassisted shot to give Huron a 3-2 lead heading into the second period.
Small used an unassisted shot to score the lone goal of the second period and boost the lead to 4-2 for the Lady All-Stars.
Small then earned a hat trick with her third goal on an unassisted shot in the third period. Alexis Rashaad capped the scoring with a goal on a pass from Izabel Casper.
Marissa Ready tallied eight saves to earn the win in the net for Huron.
On Saturday, the Huron U14 recorded a 7-4 win against Mitchell at Bergman Arena.
Small and Azalea Rashaad each had a pair of goals for the Lady All-Stars. Also scoring a goal each were Hunter, Alexis Priest and Alexis Rashaad.
Hunter earned a playmaker award with three assists for Huron, while Small had a pair of assists. Also recording assists were Shelby Timm, Casper and Alexis Rashaad.
Ready had 18 saves to collect the victory in the net for the Lady All-Stars.
