All-Stars record wins against Aberdeen, Yankton

The Huron All Stars boys’ varsity team recorded back-to-back wins over the weekend, with a 7-1 victory over the Cougars on Friday in Aberdeen, before the All Stars swept the Miracle, 11-2, in Yankton on Saturday.
On Friday, Aberdeen recorded the first shot in the net, but it was all Huron from there on, with Rei Hoops scoring in the first period, assisted by Tanner Berquist.
In the second period, Xavier Erickson shot the puck in the net with an assist from Izaiah Phillips. Jayden Bogh then scored on a power play with the help of Carson Duba, then took another point for Huron at the end of the second.
Duba, assisted by Erickson and Berquist, scored on a power play to open the third, Cody Ruedebusch then made his first goal of the game with assists from Suba and Lucas Snyder. The last shot in the net was made by Berquist, assisted by Phillips and Hoops, to end the third period.
On Saturday, Huron had three goals in the first period, while the Miracle edged one in to get a point on the board. Phillips was assisted by Erickson and Matthew Voss in a power play, followed by an Erickson shot with the help of Berquist and Phillips, while the period ended with a Duba shot, assisted by Payton Cass.
Snyder opened the second period scoring with the help of Duba and Ruedebusch, then Phillips took the second and last shot of the third, assisted by Erickson and Jayden Both.
Huron scored six goals in the last period, while one more by Yankton to end the game at 11-2 in favor of the All Stars. Duba sent the puck in the net with an assist from Snyder, Cass scored on a power play with the help of Duba and Snyder, while Erickson claimed another goal, assisted by Phillips before the three minute mark of the period.
Duba made his final shot of the game assisted by Erickson who then scored with the help of Cast, before Ruedebusch ended the scoring with the last shot, assisted by Snyder.
Huron will travel to Watertown on Friday for more hockey action from the All Stars.

Varsity girls
The Huron All-Star girls’ hockey teams were on the road this past weekend, playing games in Aberdeen and in Brookings.
The All-Star varsity team had a rough weekend, dropping a 10-3 game in Brookings on Friday night, then going on the road again on Sunday, traveling to Aberdeen where the All-Stars were shut out 19-0.
On Friday night, Huron found themselves in an early 4-0 hole, but rallied in the first period with a pair of goals by Ashley Busch to make it 4-2 after one. Assists on the goals went to Fatima Reyes and Kylee Small.
Brookings put up three more goals in the second period, before Huron closed the period with a goal by Small (assisted by Abigail Thomas and Paige Snyder) but that was all the offense for the All-Star girls.
Huron was outshot 45-12 in the game and Huron goalie Alissa Ferguson made 35 saves.
In Aberdeen on Sunday, the Cougars scored four in the first, 10 in the second and put up five more goals in the third for the win.
Huron managed only 11 shots on goal in the game, to 67 for Aberdeen. Ferguson and Cassandra Valer shared goaltending duties for the All-Stars against the Cougars.

U14 girls
The All-Star U-14 girls fared better in Brookings on Friday and Saturday. The U-14s defeated Brookings on Friday night 11-3, and came back on Saturday afternoon to shut out the Ranger U-14 girls, 10-0.
Friday’s game started quickly for Huron, as they scored the first eight goals of the game to hold an 8-0 lead after two periods. Devin Hunter scored a pair of first period goals, Kylie Small scored a goal in both periods, as did Izabel Casper, while Shelby Timm and Alexis Rashaad tallied second period goals for Huron. Assists were credited to Casper, Small and Anna Fuerst.
Brookings scored two goals to open the third period, but Huron got a goal from Rashaad and a pair of goals from Elizabeth Heyer to close the scoring in the game. Heyer, Casper and Fuerst earned assists.
Marrisa Ready made three saves for Huron, which outshot their hosts 30-6.
The U-14s came back Saturday afternoon, as Hunter got the All-Star girls started with a goal in the first to stake Huron to a 1-0 lead after first period. Casper made it 2-0 early in the second period, then a flurry of four goals within two minutes - two each from Small and Casper, and one from Hunter staked the U-14 All-Stars to a 6-0 lead after two periods.
Alexis Rashaad and Azalea Rashaad each scored goals, while Casper and Hunter each added one - both earning the Huron girls’ hat tricks in the game - as the All-Stars closed out the 10-0 win. Alexis Rashaad had two assists, while Azalea Rashaad, Small and Marissa Ready each got one
Shelby Timm earned the win in net for Huron, stopping three shots.
 Huron outshot Brookings 50-3 on the day.
