MC COOK, Neb. — A.M. Johnston, 88, of McCook, Neb. passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at McCook Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, at the Herrmann–Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Huron.
A.M. Johnston was born November 3, 1928, in Sudan, Texas to Andrew Marion and Willie Lee (Hardcastle) Johnston. He graduated from Sudan High School.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Carpenter November 5, 1949, in Huron. He began his career with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1950. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army serving in  Germany. Following his discharge in 1953, he continued his career with the Bureau, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Church of Christ, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the M O Federal Credit Union in Huron.
He is survived by his daughters, Glenda (Dale) Ellerton of McCook, Neb., and DJ Johnston of Jefferson City, Mont.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lenora Olson of Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Michael Allan; brothers, Elmer, Elvin, Kenneth and Clifford; and sisters, Rubie, LeRue, Arlene and Elva May.
Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
