HURON — Amanda T. Crow, 34, of Huron, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019, at her home.

Amanda Crow, former U.S. Navy, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019. Her family and friends knew her to be a genuine, caring person who was full of zeal. Amanda lived in Huron, but also spent time in Palmyra, Va. where her mother, Mary Jane Swift lives. From 2016 until her death, she worked for TriTech Inc and enjoyed working with her father-in-law. During that time, she got to know and become friends with many of the Hutterites. During the time she lived in South Dakota she grew closer to the Crow family, especially her niece Valorie Houghtaling. They spent many days together in the office ‘working.’ Amanda was always willing to help with any task.
Amanda was born on August 26, 1984. She grew up in Rappahannock County, Va. and graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 2002. Following in her pop’s footsteps, Amanda served in the United States Navy from 2003 to 2010. Through the Navy, Amanda met and married fellow sailor Jeremy Crow. Jeremy was the love of Amanda’s life and inspired her passion to be a part of the Gold Star Wives, Navy SEAL Foundation and the Travis Manion Foundation.
Upon receiving her honorable discharge from the Navy, Amanda started a small business that she operated in Norfolk, Va. Amanda appeared on the television show Undercover Boss, where she had the opportunity to expand on her business; all this while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2013 from Virginia Wesleyan University.
Amanda had a lifelong passion for animals, especially her two Westies, Luke and Lucy, and her three cats, Sinbad, Max, and Bobcat. Luke and Lucy were known to accompany Amanda on all of her trips, including a trip to Vegas to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Luke was even stationed with Amanda in Bahrain during her service in the Navy.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Jane Swift; father, Garry Swift; siblings, Tracy Sawyers, and Anthony Swift; loving partner, Danny Smith; grandfather, Anthony Garofano; parents-in-law, Allan and Helen Crow; siblings-in-law, Deborah Houghtaling, and Barry Crow; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Amanda was preceded in death by her husband, Jeremy Allan Crow; and her stepmother, Kathy Swift.
Amanda will be deeply missed by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gold Star Wives of America, the Navy SEAL Foundation, or the Travis Manion Foundation.
Kuhler Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
