Andy’s Road Race offers fun, prizes for all

Posted

The 36th annual Andy’s Road Race, Bike Ride and Harvey Gleich Memorial Walk is planned Saturday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 a.m. at Memorial Park in Huron, and offers something for everyone.
Participants of any age and fitness level can choose from 5K or 10K road races, 5K fun walk or 5- or 23-mile bike rides.  For the younger kids, there is a fun run for elementary children (no registration fee required).
All participants will receive a free one-day gate pass to the S.D. State Fair. The S.D. Beef Council will also be on-hand to support Team Beef runners and provide free beef jerky to participants.
Overall winners of the 5K and 10K will win Under Armour bags and age group winners will win UA socks and headbands (women). Medals will be also awarded to top finishers in each division of the 5K and 10K races.

All participants will be entered to win North Face and UA door prizes. Breakfast burritos, fruit, trail mix and drinks will be served following the events for all to enjoy.
New this year, Andy’s is partnering with the South Dakota Beef Industry to raise funds to help South Dakotans who are fighting a cancer battle with incidental expenses. Proceeds from all of the events will be used to set up a fund from which cancer patients can request funds for noncovered expenses like lodging, hair coverings, travel and meals.
Limited registration is available at packet pick-up today from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Park. Registration is $40.
More information, route maps and registration is available online at www.huronregional.org/andys or www.allsportcentral.com or by calling Kim Rieger at 605-354-0528.
