Hanson 64, Wolsey-Wessington 47
MITCHELL - After playing even through three quarters, the Hanson Beaverettes exploded in the final period to defeat the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds 64-47 in the Hanson Classic Saturday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Annalyse Weber led the Beaverettes (7-3) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Paige Endorf added 14 points off the bench.

The Lady Warbirds fall to 5-4. Mya Boomsma and Faith Nelson shared the scoring lead with 10 points apiece for Wolsey-Wessington.

Hailey Clarke grabbed six rebounds to lead the Lady Warbirds.

Wolsey-Wessington will open the 281 Conference tournament today against Sunshine Bible Academy.

Bridgewater-Emery 60, Highmore-Harrold 45
MITCHELL - After trailing at halftime, the Bridgewater-Emery Huskies tossed in 22 points in the third quarter and pulled away from the Highmore-Harrold Pirates for a 60-45 victory in the Hanson Classic Saturday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

The Huskies move to 7-2 behind a strong all around game from Julia Weber, who scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists.

Chloe Schitt dropped in 13 points while Casey Meyer and Morgan Uptagrafft each scored 10 points for Bridgewater-Emery.

Letha Jessen led Highmore-Harrold (5-3) with 12 points. Courtney Moser added 10 points.

Grace Knox and Maddie Knox each grabbed nine rebounds for the Pirates.

Highmore-Harrold plays Wessington Springs in the opening round of 281 Conference Tournament today.

Belle Fourche 62, Redfield 51
REDFIELD — As a warm-up for the Pheasant Classic on Saturday, the Belle Fourche Broncs defeated the Redfield Pheasants 62-51 in boys' basketball on Friday night.

The inside/ outside duo of Aiden Griffin and Ryker Audiss powered the Broncs to the win, as Audiss led all scorers with 20 points - including six three pointers - while Griffin notched 18 points, all inside. Anthony Staley chipped in 10 as Belle Fourche improved to 5-3 with the win. Audiss also had nine rebounds and Griffin had eight.

The Pheasants got balanced scoring, but were shorthanded on the night. Peyton Osborn and Mitchell Mack each scored 16 points for Redfield. Mack also snagged a game-high 10 rebounds in the game while Nolan Gall added 12 points.

Redfield, 3-7, played Waverly-South Shore on Saturday at the Redfield Classic.

REDFIELD CLASSIC
Ten boys’ basketball teams from across the state met Saturday in Redfield as part of the Pheasant Classic at Redfield High School.

The opening game found the Belle Fourche Broncs move their record to 6-3 with a 53-42 win over the Northwestern Wildcats. Belle Fourche led from the opening quarter in the win. Northwestern falls to 4-4 with the loss.

Aiden Griffin scored 15 points to lead the Broncs, while both Ryker Audiss and Anthomy Budmayr scored 13.
Northwestern was led by Quintin Fischbach’s 15 points.

The second game saw the Little Wound Mustangs come back from a halftime deficit to down the Florence-Henry Falcons 59-55, on the strength of a 14-5 third quarter spurt.

Little Wound put four players in double figures, led by Dylan Cuny’s 16 points. Andres Dubray scored 14 and Wakiyan Cuny netted 12 in the win, while Trey Yellow Boy scored 10 as Little Wound improves to 7-2 with the win.

Florence-Henry, which falls to 4-5, got 16 points from Tegan Sumner and 14 from Andrew Schroeder, while Mekhi Keller chipped in 11 points.

Game three featured another come-from-behind win as the Faulkton Area Trojans pushed their record to 9-1 with a 65-61 win over Timber Lake, after trailing by eight points at the half. The Timber Lake Panthers suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 6-1.

Faulkton Area got 17 points from Hunter Niederbaumer, while both Simon Bowar and Layne Cotton poured in 16 points in the win, and Bennett Cassens netted 11.

The Panthers got a game-high 22 points from Hank Kraft, while Chazz Gabe scored 14 in the losing effort.

The Groton Area Tigers outscored Deubrook Area 27-8 in the second quarter and coasted home with a 68-42 win over the Dolphins in the fourth game of the Classic. Groton Area remains perfect, at 8-0, while Deubrook Area falls to 4-4 with the loss.

Lane Tietz led the Tigers with 19 points while Jayden Zak netted 18 and Wyatt Hearnen scored 12.

The Dolphins were led by Nicholas Bowne’s 12 points in the game.

The nightcap of the Pheasant Classic found the home standing Redfield Pheasants posting a 54-47 win over the Waverly-South Shore Coyotes.

Redfield was led by Jerron Haider’s 15 points, while Peyton Osborn scored 14 and Mitchell Mack chipped in 12, as the Pheasants improve to 4-6.

For the Coyotes, now 1-6, Carter Comes scored 14 points, Cooper Schmit added 12 and Troy Kneeland netted 11 points.

Redfield returns to action on Tuesday, at Mount Vernon/Plankinton in Mount Vernon.
