Faulkton Area 40, Hitchcock-Tulare 0
TULARE - Defending Class “9B” state champion and top-ranked Hitchcock-Tulare fell in their first home game of the season to the fourth-ranked Faulkton Area Trojans Friday by the score of 40-0.

The Trojans (2-0) dominated the Patriots with a rushing attack that tallied 351 yards and controlled the clock as seniors Garrett Cramer and Layne Cotton scored five of Faulkton’s six touchdowns.

Hitchcock-Tulare (1-1) was led on offense by Erik Salmen with 22 rushes for 122 yards. He also caught three balls for 85 yards.

The Patriots travel to Lake Preston on Friday to face Iroquois/Lake Preston.

Stanley County 38, De Smet 30
FORT PIERRE - The second-ranked De Smet Bulldogs fell to the Stanley County Buffaloes 38-30 on Friday at Ole Williamson Field in Ft. Pierre.

The Buffaloes (2-0) defense was able to intercept De Smet four times in the victory. Barret Schweitzer led Stanley County with 190 yards on the ground.

De Smet falls to 1-1 despite 170 yards through the air and 69 rushing yards from Britt Carlson. He ran for three scores and recorded three quarterback sacks and 11 tackles.

De Smet hosts third-ranked Dell Rapids St. Mary Friday.

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 50, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0
LAKE PRESTON - The Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Phoenix were ungracious guests on Friday, defeating the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks 50-0 in Lake Preston in a game ended in the second quarter by mercy rule.

The Phoenix (1-0) rolled up 276 yards while holding the Sharks to just 29 yards defensively.

The Sharks fell to 0-2, led by Josh McMasters with 23 yards rushing.

Iroquois/Lake Preston hosts Hitchcock-Tulare Friday in Lake Preston.
