Hitchcock-Tulare 52, Sunshine Bible Academy 0
MILLER — Erik Salmen rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for another during Hitchcock-Tulare’s 52-0 victory against Sunshine Bible Academy on Friday.
Salmen put the first points on the board for the Patriots with a 6-yard run in the opening quarter. Blaze Binger made it 12-0 with a 4-yard touchdown run before the quarter ended.
Payton Chasing Hawk hauled in a 9-yard pass from Salmen for the first of three touchdowns for Hitchcock-Tulare in the second quarter.
Brenden Nowell scored on a 20-yard run and then threw and 18-yard scoring strike to Patrick Maynard to give the Patriots at 34-0 lead at the half.
Salmen scored for a second time with an 8-yard run in the third quarter and Chasing Hawk broke free on a 69-yard scoring run to boost Hitchcock-Tulare’s lead to 46-0 heading into the final quarter.
Jackson Maynard had the final touchdown for the Patriots, with an 8-yard touchdown reception from Nowell.
Salmen finished with 94 yards on the ground on 11 carries to lead Hitchcock-Tulare. Chasing Hawk had the one run fro 69 yards and Nowell added 26 yards on four carries.
Nowell was 9 of 9 passing for 144 yards for the Patriots.
Chasing Hawk had two receptions for 70 yards, while Patrick Maynard had three grabs for 54 yards and Salmen had 21 yards on two catches.
Defensively, Salment had a pair of interceptions and Nowell had an interception.
Sunshine Bible Academy was limited to 55 yards of total offense.
Troy Paul had 22 carries for 61 yards for the Crusaders. Trey Thieman was 1 of 7 passing, with Paul having the lone catch for three yards.
Trevor Laschkewitsch, Jimmy Burma and Anthony Mitchell each had six tackles for SBA.
Hitchcock-Tulare, which is now 4-2, will host De Smet in Hitchcock on Oct. 6.
The Crusaders (0-5) will host Colome on Friday.
