MITCHELL — A trio of area golfers finished in the top 10 during the Class B Golf Classic held Friday at Lakeview Golf Course.
Jayce Pugh of Miller used a score of 93 to finish second in the girls’ competition. She had a 49 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine to win a scorecard playoff against Bailey Landmark of Deubrook to claim the runner-up spot.
Kelsey Morrison of White River won the event with a 91.
Olivia Rink of James Valley Christian was 10th in the final standings with a 99.
Kaihlyn Anderberg of Miller was 18th, with a 103, while teammates Cassi VanderWerff and Mackenzie Kopecky finished in spots No. 50 and 51, respectively, with scores of 125 and 129.
Cheyenne Burg of Wessington Springs was 30th, with a 108, while Kirstie Munsen of Wessington Springs was 49th with a 124.
Lily Hofer of JVC carded a 147 to finish 55th.
Miller was eighth in the final girls’ team standings with 321.
Howard used a 295 to edge Deubrook for the top spot by four points. Estelline/Hendricks was third at 304, followed by Chester at 315 and McCook Central/Montrose at 316.
Boys
Jevin Goertz of James Valley Christian was seventh in the final boys’ standings with an 83.
Brody Boltjes of Platte-Geddes won the boys’ title with a 72.
Cody Cavanaugh finished 21st for De Smet with an 89, while Blake Larson of Wessington Springs was 26th with a 91.
Ethan McCune shot a 96 to finish 39th for De Smet, while Jacob Messmer had a 97 to finish 42nd for Wessington Springs.
JVC’s Ethan Bartholow finished at 99, while Tyler Fastnacht of Wessington Springs shot a 101. Derek Brueggeman and Kaden Danburg of Miller had scores of 103 and 113, respectively.
Platte-Geddes claimed the boys’ title with a 257, while Chester was second at 261. Rounding out the top five were Deubrook at 266, Garretson at 267 and Ethan at 270.
Wessington Springs finished eighth with a 281.
