Wolsey-Wessington 3, Highmore-Harrold 0
WOLSEY— The Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds pushed their season mark to 22-3 Tuesday night, with a dominant straight set win over the Highmore-Harrold Pirates in 281 Conference volleyball action at the Wolsey-Wessington Gymnasium.
Set scores for the Lady ‘Birds were 25-14, 25-12 and 25-4.
Wolsey was led by Samara Clemente’s 12 kills, while Kailynn Dorris added nine kills and collected seven aces. Lainey Uttecht had eight kills and 12 digs, while Kendal Uttecht had 13 set assists and teammate Payton Kemnitz added 10, as the Lady Warbird setters went a combined 70 for 70 in the match. Shae Uttecht led the defense with 15 digs.
Highmore-Harrold, which falls to 9-14 with the loss, got five kills and 10 digs from Reghan Westcott. Brooklyn Baloun had six assists and also had 10 digs in the match, while kendall Cermak had three kills.
Wolsey-Wessington travels to Wessington Springs on Thursday, while Highmore-Harrold hosts Herreid/Selby Area, also on Thursday.
Warner 3, Redfield 0
REDFIELD — The Warner Monarchs, top ranked and undefeated in Class B volleyball, ran their season record to a spotless 29-0 Tuesday night, with a 3-0 drubbing of the Redfield Pheasants at the Redfield High School Gymnasium.
Set scores for the Monarchs were 25-10, 25-10 and 25-15. Redfield falls to 9-12 with the loss.
Kyleigh Schopp connected for 11 kills and had four blocks for Warner, while Ava Nilsson had three set assists and also notched four aces. Haleigh Holt also had four aces in the match. As a team, Warner had 15 ace serves and assisted on 34 of their 38 kills.
Redfield was led by Katie Rozell with five kills and a block, while Chloe Zens had two aces and seven digs. Hayden Gall had eight assists in the match.
Redfield travels to Webster Area on Thursday.
Wessington Springs 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 0
WESSINGTON SPRINGS - Carissa Scheel had a big game to lead the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans to a 25-12, 25-12, and 25-6 281 Conference win over the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders Tuesday in Wessington Springs.
Scheel nailed 15 kills on 32 of 34 hitting and also had three aces on 12 of 12 serving to pace Wessington Springs, now 14-7. Alyssa Grohs dished out 34 assists on 90 of 91 setting and recorded four aces on 18 of 19 serving.
Raylee Fagerhaug led the Lady Spartan defense with 16 digs.
The Crusaders fell to 1-19 behind three kills from Annaliese VanZee and Betra Amare’s two assists and one service ace.
Springs swept the JV match 25-5 and 25-13.
Wessington Springs hosts Wolsey-Wessington Thursday while SBA hosts James Valley Christian in a pair of 281 Conference regular season matches.
Platte-Geddes 3, Miller 0
PLATTE — The Platte-Geddes Black Panthers improved to 22-6 Tuesday night, with a 3-0 shutout of the Miller Rustlers. Set scores for the Black Panthers were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-11.
Game statistics were not available for P-G.
Miller was led by Paige Werdel’s six kills, while Aleah Schlecter added five and Shaylee Anderberg and
Gracen Werdel chipped in four each. Oliva Resel had 19 assists and Anderberg led the defense with 14 digs.
Miller, now 19-5, hosts the Rustler Invitational on Saturday.
Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0
LAKE PRESTON - The Elkton-Lake Benton Lady Elks swept the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks Monday in Lake Preston.
Set scores for the Lady Elks, now 14-9, were 25-16, 25-21, and 25-9.
The Lady Elks were led by Tevan Erickson with five service aces and 14 digs.
Andrea Renkly had 10 kills.
The statistics for the Sharks were not available.
Elkton-Lake Benton also swept the JV match 25-16 and 25-20 and the “C” match 25-16 and 25-12.
The Sharks (8-13) will be part of the Dakota Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3, Howard 1
FORESTBURG - The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks defeated the Howard Tigers in four sets, 26-24, 25-19, 21-25, and 25-15, on Monday at Sanborn Central gym.
The Blackhawks move to 11-11 behind 24 kills on 33 of 36 hitting from Liz Boschee. Kenna Ochsner added 12 kills and Kenzie Baruth chipped in 10 kills.
MaKenzie Schley had 45 assists and also added two aces on 12 of 13 serving.
Abby Aslesen led Howard (6-18) with 19 kills and six blocks. Becca Feldhaus added 11 kills.
The Blackhawks will host Kimball/White Lake in Woonsocket Thursday.
