Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 0
HITCHCOCK — The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots swept a 281 Conference match Tuesday against the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks by scores of 25-12, 25-21, and 25-12 in Hitchcock.
The Lady Patriots moved to 20-7 behind 15 kills on 21 of 25 hitting by Katelyn Schroeder. Schroeder also had 19 digs to lead the defense. Ella Johnson had 10 kills on 22 of 23 hitting while also nailing four aces on 17 of 18 serving.
The Blackhawks fell to 12-13. Kenna Ochsner had seven kills along with 10 digs and two blocks. Kenzie Schley had 14 assists.
The Lady Patriots also won the JV game.
The Blackhawks travel to Bridgewater-Emery on Friday while Hitchcock-Tulare travels to Sully Buttes.
Wolsey-Wessington 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 0
MILLER — The Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds swept the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders Tuesday in a 281 Conference match at the SBA Event Center.
Set scores for Wolsey-Wessington were 25-8, 25-13, and 25-15.
The Lady Warbirds move to 25-3 behind 13 kills from Kailynn Dorris. Shae Uttecht paced the defense with 27 digs.
Kendal Uttecht had 10 digs, 10 assists, and an ace. Payton Kemnitz added 14 assists.
The Crusaders fell to 1-21. Sadie Konechne had four kills and two aces. Betra Amare led SBA with four digs and had three service aces.
Wolsey-Wessington travels to Redfield Monday while SBA travels to Leola/Frederick Monday.
James Valley Christian 3, Wessington Springs 1
WESSINGTON SPRINGS — The Wessington Springs Lady Spartans fell to the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings in four sets Tuesday in Wessington Springs.
Set scores for JVC were 20-25, 25-11, 25-11, and 25-21.
The Lady Vikings finished the regular season at 15-10 behind Addy Knight’s 18 kills. Kaylie Robinson had 10 kills and had 16 digs.
Alexa Goertz had three aces while Andee Frandsen had 46 digs to lead the defense and Cora Hofer had eight blocks for JVC.
The Lady Spartans fell to 18-11 despite seven kills and four blocks by Addy Orth. Alyssa Grohs had 20 assists and Ashlyn Weber led the Springs defense with 37 digs.
Wessington Springs won the JV match 25-21 and 25-15.
The Lady Spartans travel to Kimball/White Lake Friday.
Clark/Willow Lake 3, Tiospa Zina 0
AGENCY VILLAGE —The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones came away with a road sweep Tuesday at the Tiospa Zina Wambdi by the scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-15.
Teyha Vig was 13 of 15 serving for the Cyclones, now 8-13, with three aces. Avery Lee had three digs to lead the CWL defense.
No individual stats were available for the Wambdi, who fall to 7-17.
The Cyclones travel to Britton-Hecla Friday.
Lyman 3, Highmore-Harrold 0
HIGHMORE — The Lyman Raiders invaded the Hyde County Memorial Auditorium Tuesday night, the the Highmore-Harrold Pirates stood strong and collected a 3-0 win over the Raiders in non-conference volleyball action.
HH goes to 10-15 with the 25-13, 25-23, 25-21 win, while Lyman falls to 13-10.
Addison McDowell collected 10 kills for the Pirates, who also got two aces from Jada Baloun. Brooklyn Baloun had 19 assists and Kenidy Effling led the defense with 13 digs in the match. Reghan Westcott had four kills and 13 digs.
Lyman was led by Brook Palmer’s seven kills and 32 digs. Skyler Volmer had 34 digs, six kills and three aces for the Raiders.
Highmore-Harrold travels to Stanley County on Friday.
Wolsey-Wessington 3, Miller 1
WOLSEY — After dropping the opening set 25-17, Wolsey-Wessington rattled off wins of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-23 to secure a 3-1 victory against Miller on Monday in a battle between two of the top area teams.
The Lady Warbirds, who were in the also-receiving-votes portion of the Class B rankings, improved to 24-3.
Kailynn Dorris led Wolsey-Wessington with 17 kills on 37 of 44 attacks, while Samara Clemente was 29 of 35 hitting with 10 kills and Lainey Uttecht had seven kills on 46 of 60 hitting.
Dorris also converted on 17 of 17 serves with three aces for the Lady Warbirds. Lainey Uttecht was 15 of 16 serving with two aces. Payton Kemnitz was perfect on 40 wets with 18 assits and Kendal Uttecht was perfect on 62 sets with 14 assists.
Shae Uttecht and Kendal Uttecht tallied 19 and 18 digs, respectively, while Lainey Uttecht had 15 digs. Clemente and Kendal Uttecht each had three blocks.
Paige Werdel amassed 10 kills on 40 of 44 attacks to lead Miller, while Aleah Schlechter was 22 of 37 with nine kills and Gracen Werdel was 29 of 34 with nine kills.
Schlechter converted on 19 of 20 serves with an aces for the Rustlers, while Shaylee Anderberg 2as 13 of 14 with two aces and Olivia Resel was 14 of 14 with an ace. Resel also had a team-high 40 assists on 162 of 165 setting and had 14 digs.
Jolie Palmer amassed 36 digs for Miller, while Anderberg and Schlechter had 24 and 14 digs, respectively.
Miller (23-6) will host Ethan on Friday.
