Wolsey-Wessington 3, Arlington 2
HURON – The Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds needed five sets, but finally took down fifth-seeded Arlington Thursday at the James Valley Christian gym in Region 2B action to move onto the SoDak 16.

Set scores for the Lady Warbirds, now 28-4, were 29-27, 19-25, 18-25, 25-21, and 15-7.

Kailynn Dorris led W-W with 20 kills on 45 of 53 hitting while also recording four blocks. Samara Clemente was 32 of 35 hitting for 19 kills and added six blocks.

Tatum Luce had 12 kills on 36 of 38 hitting. Kendal Uttecht led the offense with 30 assists on 93 of 94 setting while also having a pair of aces on 20 of 21 serving. Shae Uttecht led the Lady Warbird defense with 32 digs.

Arlington (13-21) was led by Addie Steffensen with 18 kills, 27 digs, and five service aces. Harley Johnson led the Cardinals with 20 kills and Issie Steffensen had 50 assists.

Castlewood 3, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0
HURON – The Castlewood Warriors swept the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks Thursday at the James Valley Christian gym in Region 2B action to move onto the SoDak 16.

Set scores for the Warriors were 25-11, 25-17, and 25-22.

Castlewood moves to 20-8, continuing a six-match winning streak, behind 16 kills on 33 of 35 hitting from Presley Knecht. Emerson Carter added 14 kills on 30 of 35 hitting.

Gracie Haug set up the Warrior offense with 40 assists on 88 of 88 setting and also let the defense with 13 digs.

The Sharks finish the season at 13-16. Faith Steffensen and Adison Moore each recorded eight kills to lead I/LP. Rebecca Bich was 11 of 11 serving with two aces and also had 23 assists.

Elena Campagnolo had 19 digs to lead the Shark defense.

Region 6A
Miller 3, North Central 0
MILLER – The Miller Rustlers made short work of the North Central Thunder to earn a spot in the SoDak 16 Thursday in Region 6A action in Miller, defeating the Thunder 25-21, 25-14, and 25-12.

The Rustlers move to 27-6 on the season behind a strong night from Aleah Schlechter with 10 kills on 20 of 22 hitting, four blocks, and three aces on 14 of 15 serving.

Shaylee Anderberg had 11 kills to lead Miller on 24 of 27 hitting. Heather Resel set up the Miller offense, going 78 of 80 setting with 28 assists.

Jolie Palmer led the defense with 19 digs while also recording three service aces on 11 of 11 serving.

The Thunder (12-18) fell after outlasting fourth-seeded Dupree in the quarterfinals in five sets. Amree VanderVorst was 23 of 26 hitting with seven kills for the Thunder. Jenisa Jacobs had 13 digs and Sydney Bertsch had 14 assists for North Central.

The Rustlers move onto the SoDak 16 on Tuesday.

Region 1B
Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Northwestern 1
MELLETTE – The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots upset the Northwestern Wildcats in Region 1B semifinal action Thursday at Northwestern, three sets to one.

Set scores for the Lady Patriots were 27-25, 23-25, 25-22, and 25-18.

Hitchcock-Tulare moves to 24-7 behind 31 kills and 30 digs from Katelyn Schroeder. Gracyn Bixler was 30 of 30 serving with three aces.

Ella Johnson added 16 kills on 27 of 35 hitting for the Lady Patriots, and Lila Johnson set up the H/T attack with 46 assists on 117 of 120 setting.

The Wildcats finish the year at 27-8. Taylor Vetter led the way with 14 kills on 36 of 44 hitting and also paced the team with 15 digs. Tara Blackford and Ashley Haven each had three service aces. Haven also had 11 kills on 22 of 25 hitting.

Ella Boekelheide had 24 assists and 14 digs.

The Lady Patriots will hold the ninth seed in the SoDak 16 and match up with Faulkton Area to earn a trip to the State B tournament.
