MILLER — The Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders took their first win of the season Tuesday night, blanking the Crow Creek Lady Chieftains 3-0 at the SBA Activity Center. Set scores for the Crusaders, now 1-7, were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17.

Sadie Konechne had nine kills and an ace to pace SBA, while Annaliese VanZee had six kills and three blocks in the match. Addison Pearl had four aces and both Betra Amare and Abby Hinman had five assists.

No statistics were available for Crow Creek, which falls to 1-3 with the loss.

The Crusaders host Lower Brule on Tuesday.

Wessington Springs 3, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 1
WESSINGTON SPRINGS - The Wessington Springs Lady Spartans earned a 3-1 victory over the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks Tuesday at Wessington Springs.

Set scores for the Lady Spartans were 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, and 25-17.

Springs moved to 5-2 behind a big night from Avery Orth, who tallied 15 kills on 38 of 44 hitting along with seven blocks.

Raylee Fagerhaug was perfect from the service line, going 18 of 18 with three aces. Carissa Scheel went 17 of 19 serving with three aces.

Alyssa Grohs dished out 33 assists to pace the Lady Spartan offense while also leading the defense with 25 digs.

The Blackhawks dropped to 5-6 despite a huge night from Liz Boschee, who totaled 19 kills and four blocks. Kenzie Schley had 29 assists to lead the SCW offense.

Wessington Springs won the JV match 25-21 and 25-18.

Wessington Springs hosts Crow Creek on Thursday while the Blackhawks travel to Rutland Saturday to face Oldham-Ramona/Rutland.

Sioux Valley 3, De Smet 0
VOLGA — The Sioux Valley Cossacks improved their season mark to 6-3 Tuesday night, with a straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-18) defeat of the De Smet Bulldogs in non-conference volleyball action at the Cossack Center.

Adison Renkly notched 14 kills to lead Sioux Valley, while both Kaedyn Sapp and Allie Hofer added six kills.

Sunny Hesby passed out 21 set assists in the match, while Sapp led the defense with 15 digs and also had eight aces.

Hazel Luethmers had nine kills for the Bulldogs, who fall to 3-6. Megan Dylla had eight assists and Alyssa Asleson had seven assists and nine digs.

De Smet travels to Elkton on Thursday, to take on Elkton/Lake Benton.

JVC 3, Howard 0
HURON — James Valley Christian used set scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-17 to sweep Howard on Monday.

Addie Knight converted on 23 of 24 attacks and finished with 12 kills to lead the Lady Vikings, who are now 4-4. Kaylie Robinson added nine kills on 16 of 18 hits.

Robinson was 18 of 19 from the service line with three aces for JVC, while Knight was 10 of 10 with an ace.

Daril Frandsen had a team-high 13 assists on 35 of 37 sets for the Lady Vikings, while Robinson was 40 of 43 setting with 11 assists. Andee Frandsen and Jacey Wipf finished with 31 and 21 digs, respectively, while Cora Hofer had four blocks.

Abby Aslesen reached double figures with 11 kills for Howard, while Becca Feldhaus and Tana Hoyer had five and four kills, respectively.

Taryn Metele recorded a pair of aces for the Tigers. Hoyer had 13 assists and Liz Albrecht had 10 assists and a team-high 21 digs.

JVC is at the Hamlin Invitational on Saturday
