Groton Area 3, Clark/Willow Lake 1
CLARK — Groton Area used set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-17 to get past Clark/Willow Lake 3-1 on Thursday.
Shay Michalski led the Cyclones with 12 killson 19 of 20 attacks, while Haylee Tormanen had six kills on 16 of 19 spikes.
Tehya Vig was perfect on 16 serves for Clark/Willow Lake, while Zoey Helkenn was 14 of 15 with an ace and Avery Lee was 13 of 13.
Zoe Nichols recorded 19 assists on 99 of 103 setting for the Cyclones.
Vig and Sara Thonvold had 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Michalski had 13 blocks.
Colman-Egan 3, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0
COLMAN - The Colman-Egan Hawks, ranked fifth in the most recent Class “B” poll, cruised to a sweep Thursday over the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks in Colman.
Set scores for the Hawks were 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22.
Colman-Egan moves to 6-1 with the win behind 10 kills and 17 digs from Daniela Lee. Lee also had a pair of blocks.
The Sharks fall to 2-5. Elena Campaganlo had four aces from the service line as well as 16 digs. Faith Steffensen led ILP with 18 digs aand Hadlee Holt had five blocks.
The Sharks are in action today at the Lake Preston Invitational.
Florence/Henry 3, Clark/Willow Lake 0
WILLOW LAKE — Florence/Henry swept Clark/Willow Lake with set scores of 25-16, 26-24 and 25-22 on Tuesday.
Haylee Tormanen had four kills on 17 of 21 attacks for the Cyclones. Sara Thonvold was 12 of 16 with two kills, while Shay Michalski was 13 of 14 with six kills.
Tehya Vig was 14 of 16 serving with an ace, while Hannah Heiman was 11 of 12 with three aces. Zoe Nichols had 11 assists on 90 of 95 sets.
Heiman tallied 12 digs, while Zoey Helkenn and Vig each had eight digs. Michalski had eight blocks.
Miller 3, Northwestern 2
MELLETTE - The Miller Rustlers won a hard-fought five-set match Tuesday over Class “B” third-ranked Northwestern Wildcats 16-25, 25-19, 26-24, 20-25, and 15-12 in Mellette.
The Rustlers move to 5-2 behind a strong serving night from Jolie Palmer, who went 16 of 18 from the service line with four aces. Heather Resel served up a pair of aces on 13 of 13 serving. Resel also set up the Miller offense with 45 assists.
Paige Werdel led the Rustler attack with 18 kills on 45 of 51 hitting. Aleah Schlecter was 39 of 48 on the attack with 13 kills and also led the defense with 31 digs.
For Northwestern (7-4), Tara Blachford was impressive from the service line, going 24 of 25 with six aces. Ella Boekelheide set up the Wildcat offense with 35 assists.
Ashley Haven led the Wildcat attack with 13 kills while also leading the team with 35 digs. Payton Grandpre added 10 kills.
The Rustlers will play in the Big Dakota Conference tourney Saturday at Parkview Auditorium in Ft. Pierre.
