Lake Preston 3, Iroquois 0
IROQUOIS — The Lake Preston Divers evened out their record to 1-1 as they claimed a 3-0 win over the Iroquois Lady Chiefs, who fell to a record of 2-0 with the loss, on Thursday at Iroquois during an early season second match for both teams.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-7, 25-12 for the Divers.
Lake Preston totaled 18 kills, 17 aces and 23 digs with the combined efforts of the girls. Lindsay Hillestad recorded nine kills, plus two aces and digs, Brenna Woodcock tallied nine aces with one kill and dig also, while Holly Andrews made four aces and seven digs.
Katie Dubro led the Lady Chiefs with three kills and two assists, while Niah Rogers added two kills and blocks for Iroquois. Jorja Huls tallied 10 digs, followed by Heather Geyer with nine.
Iroquois will be back in action when they host the Aberdeen Christian Knights at 6:30 p.m., while Lake Preston will welcome the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds for a 6 p.m. game on Tuesday at home.

Blackhawks fall in title match of Hanson Tourney
ALEXANDRIA — The Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Blackhawks earned a spot in the championship game of the Hanson Early Bird volleyball tournament, but couldn’t get past the 2nd-ranked Warner Monarchs on Thursday night.
The Monarchs took the title with a 25-10, 25-18 win over the Blackhawks.
Warner (3-0) was led by Laurie Rogers’ 10 kills, while Peyton Fisher had 12 assists and Laura Ochsner led the defense with nine kills.
For SC-W, now 2-1, Tesa Jensen had seven kills and one dig, while Madi Moody had seven assists and Kaylee White added five, and both players had eight digs.

The Blackhawks are back in action on Tuesday, when they host Hanson, who they defeated in the tournament semifinals, in Forestburg.
Platte-Geddes defeated Hanson for third place, Andes Central-Dakota Christian took fifth with a win over Avon and Gayville-Volin salvaged seventh place with a win over Freeman Academy-Marion.

Sunshine Bible Academy 0
MILLER —The Faulkton Area Trojans posted a 3-0 win over the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders in volleyball action Thursday night, in the season opener for both teams.
Set scores for the Trojans were 25-11, 25-9 and 25-8.
Everything was working for Faulkton Area, as they converted 92-98 serves, with a total of 19 aces. Leading the way was Peyton Melius with a 23-24 effort and eight aces. Grace Schlechter had 13 set assists, although no team leader was listed for kills for the Trojans.
SBA was led by Lindsey Wilken’s three kills while Shariah Brockel added two kills. Dori Brockel had two ace serves and Victoria Paul accounted for five assists.
The Crusaders are on the road Tuesday night, at Mitchell Christian.

Estelline-Hendricks 3, Wessington Springs 1
ESTELLINE — The Estelline-Hendricks volleyball team pushed its season record to 2-0 Thursday night, defeating the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans 3-1. It was also the first match for Wessington Springs.

Set scores for E-H were 25-18, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-22.
Estelline-Hendricks got three aces, 24 assists and 11 digs from Brinn Begalka, while Sophie Johnson had 13 kills, two blocks, three aces and 13 digs.
Wessington Springs was led by Maddie Neely’s 11 kills and three aces, while Piper Jones chipped in six kills and three blocks. Sierra Burg led the defense with 19 digs and Chasity Vissia handed out 23 set assists on the night.
Wessington Springs hosts Iroquois Tuesday night.
