HITCHCOCK — Arthur “Art” Olsen, 90, of Hitchcock, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 20, at the Hitchcock United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the church with his family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the church; or visitation from 12:30 to 2 p.m prior to the service.
Arthur Earl Olsen was born August 30, 1927, at Hitchcock to Jens and Oda (Mellerup) Olsen. He graduated in 1944, from Hitchcock High School. He was united in marriage to Annette “Anne” Mortimer May 27, 1957. After retiring from farming, he was employed with Aberdeen Grain Inspections. He was a member of the Zenith Masonic Lodge at Tulare, Order of the Eastern Star Oasis, Yelduz Shrine and James Valley Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Louis Olsen, Jane Keller, and David (Amy Crane) Olsen; and grandchildren, Dane Keller, and Kasen Keller.
He is also survived by his sons, Steven (Alice), and Kenneth (Carol) Olsen; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Mortimer; nieces; nephews; and many life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by both his brothers, Nels E. (Dorothy), and James E. (Darlene) Olsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be given to Art’s favorite charity.
