HURON — Beadle County Treasurer Jacque McCaskell reminds those over the age of 65 or are disabled that the deadline for applying for a freeze on the assessed value of your property is April 1.
If you meet the criteria - age 65 or older, own a single-family dwelling, be a resident of S.D. for at least a year and live in that dwelling for at least 200 days - and meet income guidelines, you may be able to apply for an assessment freeze.
If you have applied for this freeze before, remember that the application is an annual event and you must re-apply each year.
If you have questions, or wish to apply, contact the Beadle County Treasurer’s office at 353-8405 or visit their office on the first floor of the courthouse in Huron.
