SIOUX FALLS — Avis Dorethy (Hausvik) Hansen, 92, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Dougherty House in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 29, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Frankfort. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
Avis Dorethy Hausvik was born August 4, 1926, at Turton to Martin and Emma (Hall) Hausvik. She graduated from Turton High School in 1944, and obtained her teaching certificate from NSU. She was united in marriage to Leo Jorgen Hansen September 18, 1947. The couple farmed northeast of Frankfort. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Hansen, Joanne Reiner both of Sioux Falls, and Chris Hansen of Redfield; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Clarice Hausvik Seaman of Rapid City; three sisters-in-law; and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; son, Russell; and siblings, Marion, Orville, Clarence, Marvin, Lloyd, Robert, Rodney, and James.
