HURON — Recovered case numbers dropped the active cases across the state, but locally and regionally, numbers went up and a milestone was reached in the Heartland Region over the weekend.
The state added 738 new positive cases, 910 new recovered cases, and 29 new deaths over the weekend.
Active cases dropped by more than 200 to 5,040 statewide.
Beadle County added 14 new positive cases and just one new recovered case over the weekend. That led to an increase in active virus cases in the county to 80.
The Heartland Region saw active cases rise slightly across the seven counties to 168. However, with one new death each in Hand County and Jerauld County over the weekend, the region reached 100 total deaths during the pandemic.
