Beadle adds 17 new positive cases, 1 new hospitalized

HURON — Beadle County saw active cases jump to levels not seen since the peak of the surge in late May/early June with the numbers announced by the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) on Friday. Active cases in the county are now up to 189, which hasn’t been reached since June 9. The peak in the county of active cases in the county was June 4th and 7th, both of which reported 208 active cases.

Beadle recorded 17 new positives in Friday’s DOH numbers along with one new hospitalization. The county currently has six residents hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Across the state, the DOH reported 793 new positive cases in the state as well as three new deaths and 44 new hospitalizations. Active cases in South Dakota are up to 7,312, though current hospitalizations went down by five to 299 across the state.

In the Heartland region, the numbers continued to add up as 34 new positives were reported across the seven-county region. There are currently 368 active cases of the virus in the region.
