HURON — In a holiday weekend, the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) reported a lower rate of new positive cases, with 1,620 new positive COVID-19 cases total over Saturday and Sunday.
The state did report 55 new deaths over the weekend. That brings the state’s overall total to 943 virus-related deaths, with 518 of those deaths coming just in the month of November. Before November, the state had recorded 425 total deaths throughout the pandemic.
SD has 16,930 active cases presently.
Beadle County added 31 total positive cases over the weekend, per DOH’s numbers. The county added one new death, the county’s 29th COVID-related death.
Over the past week, Beadle added 112 new positive cases, which is the lowest total of new positive cases in a week since the week ending October 18.
Beadle currently has 468 active cases.
The Heartland Region pushed over 4,300 total positives among the seven counties with the weekend numbers announced by DOH, finishing with 4,306 positive cases.
The Heartland has now registered 69 total deaths and has 954 active cases of the virus across the region.
