Beadle and Sanborn add COVID deaths in past week

HURON ­— In the first COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) in August, the state recorded the most new positive cases it's noted in a week since the week of Feb. 14-18.

The state added 1,574 new positive cases, seven deaths, and 1,524 new recovered cases. Active cases increased for the 15th straight week, reaching 4,433.

Beadle County added 35 new positive cases, one new death, and 53 new recovered cases. Active cases in the county went down to 123.

The death was the 61st virus-related death in the county.

Beadle also reported two currently hospitalized due to COVID complications.

The Heartland Region reported 79 new positive cases, two new deaths, and 90 new recovered cases. The seven-county region saw the active cases drop to 224.

The two deaths were reported in Beadle County and Sanborn County. The deaths made for 170 total in the Heartland through the pandemic.
