Beadle County adds 51 cases in three days

HURON — Beadle County added 20 new positive cases in the COVID-19 numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) on Friday. The county had not reached that number since June 7, and only eight times in the six-plus months of the pandemic has the county experienced 20 or more positive cases.

With one new recovered case, the county’s active cases rose to 86 with 17.46% of the county tested.

The state recorded its third straight day of more than 400 positive cases, with 457 new positive cases announced by the DOH on Friday. Six new deaths were also announced, bringing the overall total the state has now seen to 216.

The state has tested 20.79% of residents and currently has 3,507 active virus cases.

Across the Heartland region, a total of 32 new positive cases were recorded among the seven counties.

Overall, the region has tested 17.99% of residents and has 187 active cases.
