HURON – Nineteen percent of Beadle County voters turned out to vote in Tuesday’s primary election.
Like the statewide results, most chose Rep. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., over Attorney General Marty Jackley in the GOP gubernatorial primary race and Dusty Johnson, a former Public Utilities Commission member and former chief of staff for Gov. Dennis Daugaard over Secretary of State Shantel Krebs and state Sen. Neal Tapio, R-Watertown, for the GOP nomination for U.S. Representative.
Noem received 818 votes and Jackley finished with 615 in Beadle County. Johnson led with 661 votes, compared with 415 for Krebs and 343 for Tapio.

Johnson will face Democrat and former judge Tim Bjorkman and Noem will face state Sen. Billie Sutton, D-Burke, in the November election.
Beadle County voters also heavily supported Constitutional Amendment Y, which involves changes to Marsy’s Law, by a margin of 1,428 to 330.
A total of 1,831 registered voters went to the polls. Beadle County commissioners canvassed the results Wednesday.
