HURON — BelieveFest 2018 was full of excitement, music, games, and approximately 680 children received free school supplies on Saturday Morning at Madison School.
The BelieveFest committee members, Laura Hemenway, LeAnn Bartholow, Wanda Barthelman and Barb Valer received donations from many local businesses and organizations, 80 volunteers from across the schools and community came to assist at the event plus 70 volunteers helped haul in the supplies on Thursday.

In addition to the school supplies, there were booths set up to support the event by Huron Christian Church, Huron Public Library, United Way, Community Counseling, Mount Calvary Preschool, and First United Methodist Church, while the Huron Regional Medical Center will be taking boxes of kleenexes directly to the schools.
“We ran out of everything right at the end, we will see about increasing numbers and collecting more supplies to be provided for next year, everybody who came got something they needed,” Bartholow said.
Members of the James Valley Christian School National Honor Society were outside playing games with the children, local musicians Josh Hofer, Emily Wedel, Jonathan Blom and Jessica Hofer, played outside as well, entertaining people waiting in line, plus Child Evangelism Fellowship offered face, hand or wrist painting.
“Our mission was to be the hands and the feet of Jesus Christ and today I feel we accomplished that,” Bartholow explained. “Our goal was for the kids that came to feel loved and be able to start the school year fully supplied.”
