BelieveFest planned August 14

Posted

BelieveFest — a school supply giveaway for area children in need, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the S.D. State Fairgrounds Gate 4.

Backpacks for grades K-five will be pre-packed with supplies and handed out according to age.
People are encouraged to donate to this effort. Some businesses have stepped forward challenging others to donate. Connie Hofer with Ryan’s Hangar has challenged other restaurants, and Dustin Mattke, an insurance agent for American Trust Insurance, challenges other agents — with Eli McGehee and his son, Isaiah, stepping forward to meet Mattke’s challenge.

If you would like to donate to this community giveaway, send checks made out to “BelieveFest” to First United Methodist Church, 2660 Dakota Ave. S., Huron, S.D. 57350. You can also call 352-8604 to see what supplies are needed.

The committee would like to thank all contributors and sponsors, including grants from United Way Heartland Region, Huron Youth Leadership, United Methodist Women, and sponsors First United Methodist Church, Dakota Provisions and Huron Community Foundation.
