Bertram “Bert” Jungemann

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Bertram V. “Bert” Jungemann, 93, of Las Cruces, N.M., formerly of Wolsey, passed away December 31, 2016, in Las Cruces, N.M.
His burial will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 22, in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Wolsey. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Wolsey.
Bertram Victor Jungemann was born October 19, 1923, in Wolsey to Erich and Mayme (Fischer) Jungemann.
He graduated from Wolsey High School in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was a USAF Command pilot serving in three wars before rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. He retired after thirty years of service.
He was united in marriage to Anita Pearl Killam December 31, 1948. Upon retirement they returned to live in Huron where he was active in the VFW. They later relocated to Las Cruces, N.M.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; children, Eric, John, David, Peter, Nita, and Janet Leigh; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; siblings, Quin (Joyce), Luther (Joyce), and Gloria (Jerrald) Zupfer; and sister-in-law, Verla Jungemann.
He was proceeded in death by his brother, Herbert; and sister, Genevieve, and her husband Edward Kahre. 
Memorials may be made in Bert’s name to the Mission Lutheran Church of Las Cruces, N.M.
