HOWARD — Betty Jean Gehring, 89, of Howard, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Fargo, N.D.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 21, at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard with inurnment in Graceland Cemetery at Howard. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Betty Jean Bailey was born November 19, 1928, in Howard to Charles Richard and Leona Mae (Williams) Bailey. Betty attended school in Howard and was a graduate of Howard High School. She was united in marriage to Marvin Alfred Gehring October 15, 1948. The couple lived on the Gehring homestead for the next 52 years. She was an avid gardener and opened Mother’s Gehring’s Goose Hatchery on the farm. She also worked for several years at Good Samaritan Home as a CNA. She was a lifelong member of Beach United Methodist Church. For over 15 years, they provided lodging and meals at the farm for pheasant hunters from the Twin Cities area. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Howard community and  was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived her children, Pam (George) Stowe of Bemidji, Minn., Steve Gehring (Teodoro Macias) of Lombard, Ill.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins and close friends.  
She was preceded in death by her husband; and brother, Charles.
