Bjorkman announces bid for U.S. House seat

Canistota — Former Circuit Court Judge Tim Bjorkman will announce his candidacy for South Dakota’s at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives Thursday at the Canistota Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Canistota Public School.
“Like many South Dakotans, I believe the situation in our nation’s capital has gone from bad to worse,” Bjorkman said. “The problems we face are solvable, but they require people willing to put the excessive partisanship aside for the benefit of us all. It’s a time for change.”
Bjorkman indicated that he plans to run an aggressive, issue-focused campaign that seeks to unite rather than divide and to deliver real solutions to problems rather than promote partisan bickering.
Some of the key issues Bjorkman anticipates in the campaign are insuring access to timely healthcare for all Americans, how best to respond to the growing American economic divide, tax fairness, protecting vulnerable children, and the ways in which both political parties are failing rural America.
