Blackhawks 7th in Region 4B

YANKTON — Platte-Geddes won the boys’ title and Burke took the girls’ crown Wednesday, at the Region 4B golf tournaments, moved to Yankton from Mitchell due to wet course conditions.
Burke’s 279 three-person total easily won the day in the girl’s rank, as the Lady Cougars put all three of its scorers in the top five. Taylee Indahl took medalist honors for Burke with an 88, while teammates Emily Stukel and Adisyn Indahl finished third and fifth.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket finished seventh in the team standings in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions.

SC-W golfer Katie Schmit was the lone Blackhawk to qualify for the state tournament, as she carded a 112, good for 10th place in the event. Magan Linke was 28th for the Blackhawks and Mariah Jost finished 30th.
Platte-Geddes’ 262 earned the Black Panthers an eight-stroke win over runner-up Bon Homme.
Gregory golfer JJ Beck took medalist honors with a 77, two strokes better than P-G’s Brody Boltjes and five ahead of Bon Homme’s Carter Libis.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket was led by Cayden Slykuis’ 104, placing him 17th and four strokes out of a state tournament berth. Mike Schneidt shot 113, Collin Schmeidt shot 114 and Nick Snedeker carded a 118.
Both the girls’ and boys’ Class “B” State Golf Tournaments are set for June 3 and 4, at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
