MITCHELL — Blanche Hilton, 90, of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Blanche Irene Hilton was born April 16, 1927, in Mitchell to Bernie and Blanche (Brisbin) Haehner. She was raised and attended school in Alexandria. She attended Methodist School of Nursing where she graduated in 1948. After graduation, she worked at hospitals in Madison and Mitchell before ending her career as an LPN Instructor at St. Joseph Hospital.
She married Earl Hilton August 7, 1948, in Mitchell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Bob (Kathy) Hilton of Sioux Falls, Jon (Elaine) Hilton of Huron, Meredith (John) McLeod of Pasco, Wash., Don (Cherie) Hilton of Black Hawk; and Steve (Lisa) Hilton of Piedmont; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews, Barbara Haehner of Indianapolis, Ind., Alan Haehner of Carmel, Ind., and Jim (Shirley) Eyer of Mitchell; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; sister, Mary Louise Eyer; and brother, Carl Haehner.
