HURON — The Huron School Board of Education approved the budget for the 2019-20 school year at the meeting held Monday evening.
After last week’s goal report session, the board met following the meeting to set new goals for the coming year. The board had previously focused on leadership, student development and school safety.
It was highlighted that approximately 200 educators attended an inservice training day at the Campus Center on Monday to create a broader vision of how to assist all students in their individual educational experiences.

“The entire focus was on how to take students from where they are now and help them grow,” said Superintendent Terry Nebelsick. “I’m very proud of the work that was done by the staff today.”
Business Manager Kelly Christopherson brought to the board the standard audit engagement letter received each year, in which ELO outlined the 2018-19 audit information.
In reports to the board, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Linda Pietz presented information regarding student progression in Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) tests, which help track students throughout their education. Educators will attend the NWEA Fusions training event in St. Louis, Mo.
