ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Bonita Jean LaVelle, 81, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Huron, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
A celebration of life ceremony was held Saturday, September 29, at the Unity of St. Petersburg Church.
Bonita Jean was born November, 22, 1936, in Huron to Joe A. and Margery Glanzer. She grew up on several different farms in rural Yale. She graduated from Huron High School, and then from St. John’s School of Nursing in Huron.
She was united in marriage to Eugene LaVelle in 1958. The couple moved to south Florida and raised their two children, Vickie Lynn, and Joseph Eugene.
Throughout the years, she enjoyed working in several different professional fields: healthcare, teaching, and real estate.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Michael) Ryan, and Joseph LaVelle; two granddaughters, Rachel and Lindsey; and brothers, Roger Glanzer of Huron, and Reginald Glanzer of Winter Haven, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brother, Robert Glanzer of Kansas City.
