HURON — The Huron High School boys' soccer team pulled away in the second half of the game to defeat the Pierre Governors 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Huron improves to 3-4 with the win, while Pierre falls to 1-7-1.

Huron got on the board first with a goal scored by Kyo Htoo, only to see Pierre answer back moments later. The teams struggled to find a rhythm the remainder of the half and went to the locker room knotted at 1-1.

"We had several opportunities to score more goals in the first half," said Huron coach Leah Branaugh, "but we continued to be drawn offsides by Pierre's defense. But we played much better in the second half."

Huron broke the tie with back-to-back goals from Baht Khin, then Carlow Yanes scored on a header off a corner kick from Wanney So.

"We were able to watch the offsides with the adjustments we made," Branaugh said. "The boys really played as a team in the second half and I was able to get everyone some playing time in the match. We are still young, but when we play as a team we play so well."

Eh Bleh had one save in goal for Huron.

Huron's girls didn't fare as well against the Lady Goves, as they dropped a 10-0 decision to remain winless on the season at 0-7.

Huron will hit the road Thursday, as both the boys' and girls' team will take on Harrisburg.
