RAPID CITY — The Brandon Valley Lynx capped a 19-5 season Saturday night, coming from behind in the final quarter to take a 54-47 win over the Sioux Falls O’Gorman Knights in the championship game of the State Class “AA” boys basketball tournament on the Rapid City Civic Center’s Barnett Court.
The Lynx trailed by two points after three quarters, but overpowered the Knights 23-14 in the final period to earn the program’s second title and break a 19-year championship drought.
Carter Olthoff led all scores with 21 points for the Lynx. Gavin Terhark added 15 and had two assists while Jackson Hilton scored 13 points for Brandon Valley.
Luke Ronsiek scored 15 points to top the Knight’s scorebook, while Akoi Akoi added 11 and had five rebounds. O’Gorman ends the year with a record of 18-6.

Harrisburg 70, Yankton 64 OT
Yankton standout Matthew Mors hit one of two free throws to force overtime, but in the extra period it was all Harrisburg, as the eighth-seeded Tigers knocked off the second seeded Bucks 70-64 in overtime to take third place in the State Class “AA” boys’ basketball tournament.
Harrisburg’s Nick Hoyt, who ended the night with 29 points, laced a three-pointer one minute into overtime and the Tigers never gave up the lead. Blair Slaughter added 14 points, claimed nine rebounds and handed out four assists as Harrisburg closed the book on a 14-10 season that saw them go 2-1 at the state tournament, with their only loss to eventual state champion Brandon Valley in the semifinals.
Connor Geddes had 13 points for Harrisburg.
Mors ended the game with 26 points and had 19 rebounds, but missed a potential game-winning free throw in the closing seconds of regulation. Mors, who was named the Gatorade Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year for South Dakota on Friday, ended the game 3-8 from the line and also had five blocked shots. Cooper Cornemann scored 14 points and Miles Carda added 10 as Yankton ended the season 18-6.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt 67, Sioux Falls Lincoln 49
RAPID CITY — Fifth place at the State “AA” boys’ basketball tournament was claimed by the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders after defeating the No. 1 seeded Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots with a decisive 67-49 win, Saturday afternoon at the Rapid City Barnett Arena.
The Rough Riders end the season with an improved 15-9 record, as the sixth-seeded team was led by Tucker West with 25 points, Tyler Feldkamp tallied 19 and another 16 were added by Carson Devericks.
Nate Brecht led the Patriots with 13 points, as the team closed the season with a record of 19-4 with the loss.
Girls
Brandon Valley 60, S.F. Lincoln 40
RAPID CITY — The Brandon Valley Lynx overpowered the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots 60-40 Saturday night, to take the championship at the State Class “AA” girls’ basketball tournament on the Barnett Court at the Rapid City Civic Center.
Brandon Valley, which came into the tournament as the fourth seed, broke open a close game with an 18-8 run over the second quarter and were never challenged as they closed the season with a record of 20-4, earning the program’s second state title, after winning it all in 2011.
Trinity Law led the way for the Lynx with 17 points, while Ashley Wells added 14 and Lauren Wells chipped in 10. Danica Kocer had a team-high seven rebounds.
Lincoln, which ended 15-8 on the season, got 13 points from Emma Osmundson and 12 from Morgan Hansen. Sydnaya Dunn led all rebounders with 13 in the game.

The Mitchell Kernels held a 10-point cushion at the half, but the Harrisburg Tigers staged a second-half comeback to take a 49-44 win over the Kernels in the third-place game at the State Class “AA” girls’ basketball tournament Saturday evening.
Brecli Honner scored 21 points and Jeniah Ugofsky added 10 to lead the Tigers to the win. Faith Van Holland had a game-high nine rebounds for Harrisburg, which ends the season with a record of 19-5.
Mitchell, which ends the year 14-10, got 15 points from Tess Limberg and 10 from Mackenzie Miller.
Consolation championship
Rapid City Stevens 44, S.F. O’Gorman 41
The top-seeded S.F. O’Gorman Knights fell behind early, clawed their way back into contention, but faded down the stretch Saturday afternoon, dropping a 44-41 game to the Rapid City Stevens Raiders in the consolation championship game of the State Class “AA” girls basketball tournament.
Kyah Watson was the lone Raider to dent double figures, with 11 points, as Stevens relied on a balanced scoring effort. Jayda McNabb led all rebounders with nine boards as the Raiders ended the season 17-7.
O’Gorman, which ended the season with a record of 19-5, was led by Emma Ronsiek’s 21 points and seven rebounds.

Sioux Falls Washington 45, Brookings 43
The Sioux Falls Washington Warriors got a basket from Samiya Jami with four seconds in the game, to claim a 45-43 win over the Brookings Bobcats in the seventh-place game at the State Class “AA” girls basketball tournament Saturday morning in the Rapid City Civic Center’s Ice Arena.
Jami’s basket gave her 10 points in the game, to go with her nine rebounds, both team-high totals for the Warriors, who end the season 14-9.
Brookings, which closed the season with a record of 15-7, was led by Michaela Jewett’s 16 points, while Johanna Miller scored 13 points and had seven rebounds.
