Brent Tofflemire, 75, of Grand Island, Neb

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Brent Tofflemire, 75, of Grand Island, Neb., passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the CHI St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island.  
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday November 4, at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs.  
Brent was born on July 12, 1942, to Lewis and Tillie (Jenner) Tofflemire. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1961. He attended college in Springfield, but left college after a year and a half to work on the construction of the Big Bend Dam near Chamberlain. He also worked at the Swans Bakery in Rapid City and the Homestake Mine in Lead.  
He was united in marriage to Maxine Horsley May 30, 1964.  The couple moved to Dumont, Colo. where he worked at the Henderson Mine in Empire until his medical retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; daughter, Marcyne (Scott) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Patti (Hopp) Tofflemire; son, Kelly (Leigh Anne) Tofflemire; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Norman (Nancy) Tofflemire, Mike Tofflemire, and Brenda Porter; brother-in-law, Ray Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ryan; siblings, Telford, and Karla; brother-in-law, Maynard; and nieces, Kim and Erin.
