BRITTON — The Britton-Hecla Braves pulled away in the second quarter to post a 34-12 win over the Clark-Willow Lake Cyclones in a Class “9A” first round football playoff game Thursday night.
It was a night of big plays for both teams.
The Braves struck first on a Tayon Hawkins 23-yard run, but C-WL countered moments later as Grayson Florey carried the ball on a 69-yard score.

Stanley Haskings made it 14-6 for B-H in the first quarter, scoring on a 30-yard run, but the Cyclones cut the margin to two, at 14-12, with a 56-yard pass from Jacob Prouty to Ntai Stevens.
But the Braves added two more scores in the half, as Haskins hit paydirt from 30 yards out and then Preston Jones scored on a 56-yard run, to make it 27-12 at the half.
A late three-yard run by B-H’s Parker Marlow made the final scores 34-12.
Florey ended the night with 118 yards on 18 carries while Prouty was 10/23 for 121 yards through the air.
Britton-Hecla, which moves to 7-2 and will play next Thursday in the quarterfinals in 9A, got 148 yards on the ground from Haskins, on 17 carries, while Hawkins ran 19 times for 116 yards and Jones tallied 103 yards on five carries.
