Buddy Poppy and Poppy Days programs

Huron Mayor Paul Aylward, flanked by Sandy Mencke, left, and Bev Freng, signs a proclamation naming May 10-11 VFW Buddy Poppy Days and May 24-25 as Legion Auxiliary Poppy Days.

The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made protecting our freedoms. All donations are used for programs that support veterans, the military community and their families.
