PORTLAND, Ore. — Buell ‘Dean’ Cotton, 82, of Portland, Ore., and formerly of Huron, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
Dean was born June, 8, 1938, to Buell and Lila (Shiltz) Cotton in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School.
Dean joined the Navy shortly after graduation and served in the Pacific Islands, where he met and married Milea in Hawaii.
She had two daughters when they met. Dean spent most of his life in Dana Pointe, Calif., after leaving the Navy.
He moved to a suburb in Portland Ore., when his health was an issue, to live with his stepdaughter, Cathy.
Dean is survived by his stepdaughter, Cathy Switzer of Portland, Ore.; stepsister, Carol Pevestorf of Huron; and cousins, Gail, Bob, and Steve Larsen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Debbie; stepmother, Lorena Cotton; uncle, Howard (Erma) Cotton; and aunt, Dorothy (Willis) Walker.
