HURON — Carol J. Walter, age 63, of Huron, passed away peacefully Friday, August 24, 2018, at home from natural causes.
Her Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
Carol Jean Johnson was born July 5, 1955, to Robert C. and Marion (Patzwald) Johnson in Lake Preston. She graduated from high school in De Smet. She attended nursing school in Pierre, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed for over 30 years as an LPN at the Huron Nursing Home, retiring in 2010.
She was united in marriage to Rex Walter April 18, 1975. She loved her kids and lived to support them in all their activities. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Addison.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Walter of Huron; son, Jesse (Kristi) Walter of Woodbury, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Nikki Walter of Aberdeen; granddaughter, Addison Walter; sisters, Margaret “Toots” Johnson of Rapid City, and Mary “Lynny” (Tom) Hein of De Smet; brother, Jim Johnson of Rapid City; mother-in-law, Arlene Walter of Huron; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmen Holland of Ojai, Calif., Dallas Walter of Yale, and Dawn (Larry) Almond of Custer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Robert Walter who passed away November 16, 2011 from Leukemia; her parents; her brother, Mike Johnson; and father-in-law; Byron Walter.
