Celebrating Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthday

Second-graders at Holy Trinity Catholic School celebrated Laura Ingalls Wilder’s birthday this week with a Little House Day.

The students dressed up like pioneers for the day.  They also recited their lessons, used slates for writing, memorized Bible verses, made Whirly Gigs (toys), played with paper dolls,  played ‘hide the thimble,’ and had a Spelling Bee.

Lunch time was a treat, because they ate lunch in their classroom with meals served in tin pails. They finished the day snacking on popcorn (a rare treat for Laura) and watching an episode of “Little House on the Prairie.”
