FAULKTON — Celius “C” Wherry, 95, of Faulkton, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Faulkton Area Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Faulkton. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery at Faulkton. A rosary will be prayed one half hour prior to the service.
Celius A. Wherry was born September 18, 1921, near Orient to Melvin and Mary (Rudd) Wherry. He was united in marriage to Regina Speck November 23, 1943.
He worked four years at Dahme’s Garage, four years for the Farmers Elevator, and then worked for the S.D. Department of Transportation for 29 years.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Phyllis) of Milbank, Don (Sandy) of Sun City West, Ariz., and Diane (Brad) Becker of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings, Maureen Gerdes, and Donna Roth both of Miller, and Dennis (Lola) of Abilene, Texas; brother-in-law, Delbert Christiansen of Northglenn, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Mavis Wherry of Santee, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife; infant son, Eugene Francis; brothers, Werner and Bernard; and sister, Eileen Christiansen.
