CLARK — The Hamlin Chargers boys’ and girls’ track and field teams easily won titles Tuesday, at the Lake Central Conference Meet.
The Charger girls rolled up 217.5 points, outpacing runner up Flandreau’s 151 and Sioux Valley was third with 74.
De Smet’s girls were fourth with 66 points and Clark-Willow Lake scored 58.5 for sixth.
No Clark-Willow Lake or De Smet girl won on Tuesday.
In the boys’ race, Hamlin’s 161.5 was good for the win, with Clark-Willow Lake taking second with 135 points. Sioux Valley again was third (99 points) and De Smet scored 97.5 for third.
Heartland area winners in the boys’ race included De Smet’s Koby Spader, who took wins in both the shot put and discus, while teammate Baylor Beck doubled up with wins in the 800 and 1600-meter runs. The Bulldogs’ 3200-meter relay team of Dakota Barnard, Trevin Holland, Kalen Garry and Beck earned the win, as did the Medley relay team of Nolan Couglin, Joshua Roth, Rett Osthus and Dakota Barnard.
Clark-Willow Lake’s Jeffrey Paulson took the long jump title and the Cyclones’ 1600-meter relay team of Tyler O’Neill, Trey Huber, Tate Burke and Sam Hovde took the win.
De Smet hosts the Dakota Valley Conference meet today and Clark-Willow Lake will compete in the North East Conference meet on Friday in Hayti.
