HURON — City commissioners on Monday approved a variance to permit Troy Styer to construct an addition five feet from the east property line of an existing building at 201 Market St. E. where code requires a minimum of a 12-foot side yard setback in the general industrial district.
The structure is located just west of the Manford Music building.
The addition Styer is planning to build will become the store front for his cleaning business.
In his application for a variance, he had requested a two-foot setback.
In reviewing his proposal, the hearing examiner and building inspector recommended a five-foot setback for adequate access and structure maintenance and to decrease any fire issues. Styer told commissioners he is OK with the five-foot setback.
